We stayed 5 nights at the Melrose guesthouse in June 2010. We were accommodated in a very nice comfortable room which made us feel at home. The owners provide excellent service and cook a good English breakfast according to our wishes. The guesthouse provided space for our motorbikes behind the building out of sight. We can recommend this place and certainly would come back if we would stay in the area again.

Thank you Lynn & Alan for being such welcoming hosts, we really enjoyed our stay (despite the weather) Great breakfast and lovely clean accomodation. We will certainly recommend your guesthouse to all our friends and when visiting Ambleside again will contact you first. Thank you once again.

This was our first experience of B&B and we were greatly impressed by the extremely high standards of comfort, decor and food. Our hosts were fantastic; Alan is a fount of knowledge of the area and nothing was too much trouble. We highly recommend the Melrose.

Spent 4 nights at the Melrose in August and had a lovely stay. Rooms are great, along with the breakfast and Alan & Lynn's advice on local areas to visit. Will go back. Highly recommend.

We spent 2 nights at the Melrose in July and were more than pleased with the friendly warm service and the clean comfortable rooms.
